Opening the Door to Taavo's World

Taavo Somer and writer David Coggins approached Noë & Associates to design Taavo’s first book, Freemans. Published by Harper Collins, the book opens the doors on Taavo’s world—showcasing the interiors of his numerous Freemans ventures and other restaurant spaces he has conceived and owns. Including the superb American-made men’s clothing store, bespoke tailors, barbershop, and food and drink establishments that comprise Somer’s iconic—and now much-copied—style.

Scope: Book Design; Art Direction.

The hardback book involved editing and arranging Taavo’s vast archive of works and creating a sequence of images that create an intimate portrayal of this designer, architect and creative director. The finished coffee table book is wrapped with a custom marbled cover with foil blocking and includes 225 beautiful photographs, shot by David Prince.
