Redefining the voice of American contemporary design
Surface is the American magazine of global contemporary design. Founded in 1993, Surface traverses the worlds of architecture, art, design, fashion, and travel, with a focus on how these fields shape and are shaped by contemporary culture. Through incisive writing, engaging visuals, and an emphasis on process and craftsmanship, Surface inspires, informs, and entertains readers, pointing them to the next big ideas in global design.
In July 2013, Noë & Associates redesigned Surface Magazine—redefining ‘The American Voice of Design’—and for the next two and a half years designed every issue and art directed every photoshoot. Working with CEO Marc Lotenberg, our rebranding and magazine design repositioned the publication as the authoritative voice in American contemporary design.
